House fire:   Madison
At approx 00:56 hours, the Madison and Danville Fire Departments responded to a reported house fire at #5 Powell Branch Road that was discovered by a Boone County Sheriff Deputy that was on routine patrol in the Powell Creek area.

First in fire units observed heavy smoke and flames venting from the roof of the house and several windows of the home. Firefighters were able to quickly knockdown the fire but were hampered by strong gusting winds that would increase the fires intensity. Fire department officials were unsure if anyone currently occupied the house however residents of the area indicated they hadn't seen anyone in the home for about a month.

The home was a total loss, 2 firefighters suffered minor burns but required no treatment, the fire is considered suspicious and the Boone County Sheriff Department and the West Virginia State Fire Marshals Office are investigating.

This is the 3rd structure or house fire in the past 5 days for Madison and Danville firefighters.

This incident occured in Boone County.
